Below is a selection of works composed for and performed by live ensembles, as well as compositions for digital instruments and emulated sound chips from old video game consoles.

The assignment was to compose for eight double basses. As with Névé, I was given random stock footage to compose to and was encouraged to design a narrative around it.
This was probably the most difficult piece to compose and mix because of the unique ensemble. I believe I made a successful cue, though.

Ratatouille
The Chase for Gusteau’s Will
We had to rescore a cue of our choice using a string orchestra. I tried to write in a French-sounding style and scored the scene more from the perspective of Chef Skinner.
Score by Evan Maly.

Apple Pirozhki
for Harp, Celeste, Piano, and Strings
The result of a recording and conducting session with the European Recording Orchestra. The ensemble I conducted was with the strings, harp, celeste, and piano. I recorded soprano vocalists the next day.

Silver Tongue
Unus tantum superest
We were assigned to compose for an ensemble of double woodwinds (two flutes, oboe + cor anglais, clarinet + bass clarinet, 2 bassoons). I wrote a cue for my friend Pokyuii's game in progress. The scene is of a soldier left on a battlefield, the only one alive.
Direction by Pokyuii.
Composed by Evan Maly.
Recorded by the European Recording Orchestra in Sofia, Bulgaria on April 4, 2026.
Chow Chow
Diego Rose
The module this piece was composed for was about writing adaptive music for games. I had to compose a base track with three intensities: idle, tense, and alert. We then had to compose in a way that would allow for seamless layering if we switched between those intensities. The recording session was striped, so strings and winds one day and brass the next.
I wrote a character theme for one of my friend GrizzlySuplex's characters, framing the composition as if it were for a boss fight with that character.
Direction and concept by GrizzlySuplex.
Composed by Evan Maly.
Recorded by the European Recording Orchestra in Sofia, Bulgaria on May 2, 2026.
